IRVINGTON MAYOR WAYNE SMITH
PARTICIPATES IN READ ACROSS AMERICA
Irvington Mayor Wayne Smith today is celebrating Read Across America with students at Augusta Street School and at Berkeley Terrace School.
The annual celebration of reading, conducted across the U. S. by the National Education Association, honors the late Theodor Seuss Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) on March 2, which would have been his 103rd birthday. In NJ, Read Across America is spearheaded by the NJ Education Association, in partnership with the NJ State League of Municipalities, the NJ Library Association and Saturn-UAW.
"Dr. Seuss helped to instill the joy of reading in millions of children," Smith said, "and we are proud to continue this great tradition."
