IRVINGTON ORGANIZATION TO OFFER
SNOW REMOVAL FOR SENIORS

Mayor Wayne Smith and My Father Knows Best, an Irvington-based community organization, are announcing snow removal services at no charge for senior residents, ages 60 and up.

Services will be provided for the walkways and driveways of private homes, according to the organization’s founder and president Ronald Alston, who said, “Winter time is most difficult for the elderly and infirmed, who are on fixed incomes and tend to rely on community people to shovel snow.”

Applications will be available starting December 1 at Irvington Town Hall on Civic Square and at the Waris Cultural Center, 62 Howard Street. Proof of age, residency and home ownership are required to complete the registration.

“I am proud to endorse a program that will provide relief and comfort to some of our most vulnerable residents,” the mayor said.

My Father Knows Best is a 5-year-old non-profit organization that promotes positive relationships between fathers and their children through a variety of activities, including its popular annual Father’s Day Breakfast. It also runs a Toys for Tots drive during the winter holidays.

For more information about the snow removal registry, call Alston at (973) 393-0399.
