"It is the goal of this administration to investigate and implement any initiative that will improve life in Irvington, and to do so with all due care, commitment and concern."
MAYOR WAYNE SMITH
Irvington residents and other community members are invited to attend the township’s local celebration of “National Night Out,” an annual event that combines fun family activities with crime awareness and prevention.
The event will be held rain or shine on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. in front of the Irvington Police Department on Civic Square.
Police and fire vehicles will be on display, in addition to crime prevention literature and devices, and the NJ State Police mounted police (horseback) are expected to be on patrol in the area. Giveaways, refreshments, a pie-eating contest and an appearance by McGruff the Crime Dog will complete the festivities for the evening.
“We want everyone to come out and bring the message of National Night Out back to good use in their own neighborhoods,” Mayor Wayne Smith.
Residents are urged to keep their exterior lights on in support of the evening’s activities.
