IRVINGTON PLANS FIFTH ANNUAL UNITY DAY

The Fifth Annual Irvington Unity Day, an event created by Mayor Wayne Smith to promote community pride and solidarity, has been scheduled for Saturday, August 19, 2006 (raindate is Sunday, August 20).

Rhythm and blues sensation Carl Thomas and local favorite, Valerie Adams and the Dimension Band are the headliners of the free event to be held at Orange Avenue Park (behind Irvington High School) from noon to 7 pm.

Other performers include R&B artist Kira, the Keith Marks Trio, positive rap group Tex-N-D and female vocalist Sheba.

Senior citizens will be treated to a catered luncheon, music and assorted activities under a tent, while children can enjoy carnival rides, inflatable play equipment, clown performances, games and free painting. The municipal pool will be open and barbecued food will be served.

Vendor space is $75 per table. For more info about Unity Day, call (973) 416-5650 or (973) 399-6688.
