IRVINGTON MAYOR WAYNE SMITH LEADS LOCAL
HUMANITARIAN EFFORT FOR RESIDENTS IN NEED

A partnership with the Township of Irvington and a local church resulted in the distribution of clothes, bed linens and other items last Thursday (July 27, 2006) at the former Irvington General Hospital.

Celestial Church of Christ, a Nigerian ministry located at 86 Beverly Street in Irvington, and its sister congregation in Brooklyn NY, received the goods from the international Christian organizations, Feed the Children and World Vision, through an ongoing collaboration with Gabrielle International Development-a relief organization affiliated with the church.

The Irvington Neighborhood Improvement Corporation, the municipal social services agency; United Chaplain International World Outreach, Inc., a Newark-based ministry; and Bridges Outreach, Inc., a Summit advocacy organization for the homeless population, provided assistance for the initiative.
