The Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and appearance of the township. Primary residential services include trash and snow removal; tree trimming and removal; and curbside recycling pickups (recycling calendars are mailed every January). Residents can drop off automobile batteries and tires, cardboard, computer paper, cooking and waste oil, and dry cell batteries at the garage located at 406 Coit Street. The department is also charged with improving the township’s infrastructure by repairing roads; sewers; and street and traffic lights. In addition, the department makes dumpsters available for block cleanups. Further, many community outreach programs are held throughout the year to educate the public about the environment.
