Operating an array of programs and services, the department works to ensure the public and environmental health of the township. The department combats such hazards as lead poisoning, rabies, and food poisoning through investigations, inspections and abatements at food establishments and other properties. The department offers registration for the WIC nutritional program and runs a baby wellness clinic, serving children ages two months through kindergarten. There are clinics for tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases, in addition to the case management of lead poisoning, adult vaccination services and the provision of flu shots to eligible residents.
