Dear Mayor Smith:
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation for taking time out of your very hectic schedule to read a wonderful story to my class. On March 3, 2003, you volunteered your time to participate in our school’s annual “Read Across America Day” program. You read a book, titled, I Wish I Could Read to my Success For All 3.2 reading group. This cute little story was highly inspirational and educational in informing the students abut the importance of knowing how to read. As you will read in their letters, they absolutely loved the story!
Wow! How many students can say that “their mayor” stopped by their school and read them a story? The students went throughout the school bragging about you reading to them. Needless to say, this is truly a day in which they will always remember and cherish in their little hearts.
Enclosed are letters and pictures the students would like you to have as a gift from them. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as they enjoyed writing their letters and drawing their pictures of their favorite stories to you.
