The department provides legal guidance to Mayor Wayne Smith and all departments, under the direction of the Township Attorney. The department is responsible for reviewing and approving contracts, deeds and other legal documents on behalf of the township before terms are executed, in addition to maintaining records on such documents and on litigations. The Township Attorney serves as chief counsel in all litigation involving the municipality. He also prosecutes municipal offenses, as mandated by the Municipal Court.
