The department oversees the day-to-day operations of the municipal agencies, in accordance with the vision and goals as set forth by Mayor Wayne Smith. Budget management, policy development and execution, personnel management, labor negotiations, contract administration, and community relations fall under the departmental auspices.

The Department of Administration serves as the Film Commission. This commission issues permits for firms seeking to produce films within the Township.

The Business Administrator leads the Township's redevelopment and economic development strategy. He is also the Township Public Officer, reponsible for managing the Abandoned Property Program and the Vacant Property Registration Program.

The Business Administrator is the Personnel Officer for the Township of Irvington.
